Tyttenhanger House is an impressive, Grade 1 listed building. Built in the mid-17th century, it remained a family-owned country mansion until the 1970s, when it was converted for commercial office use.
Much of our work involved repairing and restoring the hand-carved woodwork. Our objective was to complete a sympathetic restoration across all areas, using traditional building techniques. We worked on the floors, ceilings, wall panels and the two, three-storey staircases with highly-decorative balustrades. Works also included reinforcement and repairs to decayed floor structures. The wall and ceiling repairs were undertaken using lime plaster and horsehair.
Other works comprised updating the M&E, data and fire alarm services throughout the communal spaces.
It was a real pleasure to lead extensive internal restoration work at such as historic property. We are proud of the quality achieved, the collaborative approach that we took with the design team and our success in working around the end users.
